The youngest students at Collège Sainte-Marcelline are often the ones who adapt most naturally to intergenerational encounters. Without prejudice, with spontaneous curiosity and instinctive generosity, they form the first bonds with elderly residents of Résidence l'Amitié: simple, warm and often unforgettable connections.
Practical Activities, Tailored for Young Children
Pumpkin Decorating
To launch the very first year of Carrefour Mosaïque in 2024, residents of Résidence l’Amitié joined kindergarten and Grade 1 students to paint pumpkins together for Halloween. A simple and joyful activity; the very first encounter between two Marcelline generations who had never met before.
More than a dozen residents took part. The pumpkins were magnificent, and the smiles even more so!
Christmas Visit to Résidence l’Amitié
In December 2025, the little ones visited the residents of Résidence l’Amitié. Settled in comfortably, they listened to a Christmas story read by the seniors: a moment of tenderness and togetherness between generations.
Before leaving, each child received a chocolate, a small gesture that brought big smiles.

I went to see grand-maman with Alyssa and Raphaël and we got cookies and went to get candy canes at her place. There was a Santa Claus giving out chocolate!

What These Encounters Bring to Young Children
For kindergarten children, meeting seniors in a playful and caring context is a first lesson in humanity. They naturally learn to speak to someone different from them, to share, to listen, and to discover that joy has no age.
These moments nurture Marcelline values from the earliest years: caring, mutual support and openness to others — lived not as abstract concepts, but as real and tangible experiences.
