Beyond the classroom, extracurricular activities elevate the Marcelline experience. Whether through sports, the arts or UN diplomacy, every student finds a space to foster her talents, cultivate her passions and build lasting friendships. The ideal opportunity to grow, get involved and shape her journey.

Babysitting Course (Red Cross) — Grades 7 and 8

Grade 7 and 8 students can complete the Canadian Red Cross “Babysitting” course. This dynamic program gives young people the essential skills to care for children of all ages with confidence and professionalism.

Beyond basic care (feeding, hygiene and developmental stages), participants learn to prevent dangerous situations and respond calmly to emergencies through age-appropriate first aid training.

By developing their leadership and sense of responsibility, our students earn a recognized certificate, a valuable asset to launch their first babysitting services in the community.

Anges Marcy

The Anges Marcy group embodies the deepest Marcelline tradition: being present in the lives of others, simply and concretely.

This civic-minded group encourages members to live out the Marcelline values through active engagement with those experiencing vulnerability or poverty. In a true spirit of family, the Anges Marcy work with Montreal’s homeless population through Moisson Montréal, and isolated seniors. They give their time and talents to any cause they care about…

Their motto says it all: “To give is to receive.”

Choir

This choral singing activity offers students a unique immersion in the world of collective music, where the voice asserts itself as a powerful tool for expression and connection. Through the exploration of the many benefits of singing, participants discover the quiet strength of this discipline while sharing the emotional treasure of group work. The program emphasizes mastery of vocal technique and breathing through structured warm-up exercises.

Learning also includes opportunities for an introduction to choir directing, fostering the development of self-confidence and leadership, through an eclectic repertoire ranging from baroque and classical to jazz and international pop music. This extracurricular activity celebrates cultural diversity and cultivates a deep sense of belonging within a harmonious ensemble.

Book Club

The book club offers literature lovers a privileged space to share their discoveries and exchange impressions in the library. Rather than following a rigid program, this activity prioritizes the pleasure of open discussion and the exploration of varied genres. By encouraging critical thinking and open-mindedness, this weekly gathering allows every student to feed her imagination, all while forging deep bonds around a shared love of words.

Cross country – RSEQ

The regional cross-country competition is one the school has participated in for many years, with students consistently standing out. Intensive training prepares athletes for the Lac St-Louis regional cross-country meet in October. A strong ranking allows students to advance to the provincial championships — and perhaps even further!

Fillactive

Fillactive is an extracurricular activity offered in hundreds of Québec high schools, aimed at promoting the love of physical activity in girls. Setting competition aside, the focus is on discovering a wide range of sports and having fun among friends!

Sports at Lunch

Sports at lunch give students a special opportunity to liven up their midday break by burning some energy in the gym in a recreational setting. Through free or organized sessions, this activity allows students to practise various sports while developing healthy habits. By fostering sportsmanship and camaraderie, these active moments boost motivation for school and help students return to class with a sharp and revitalized mind.

UN Assembly Simulation (SIMONU) — Bilingual —
Grades 9–11

The UN General Assembly simulations essentially promote UN values of peace and diversity. In practice, each SIMONU team delegation takes on the role of diplomats by representing a country and defining a strategy on an international issue.

Members of the various delegations are called upon to speak at the podium and negotiate with their counterparts. The goal is to defend the interests of the country represented while seeking consensus — to pass a resolution by majority vote, all while respecting UN protocol. Our students participate mainly in the SIMONU organized by Collège André-Grasset, Brébeuf, John Abbott and Vanier, and some even qualify for Harvard Model United Nations Canada (HarvardMUN Canada).

Marcy Danse Dance Troupe — Grades 9–11

The Marcy Danse troupe offers a dynamic platform where physical expression and creativity meet. Through the learning of varied choreographies and rigorous techniques, dancers explore different styles while developing their agility, rhythm and stage presence.

This after-school program emphasizes self-discipline and teamwork, allowing each participant to thrive as part of a passionate group. By combining technique and emotion, the Marcy Danse troupe fosters a love of movement and a sense of pride in pushing one’s limits, all within a spirit of camaraderie and self-confidence.

Friday Board Games

Every Friday at lunch, students who wish can head to the high school library to spend some quality time with friends around a variety of board games. This playful break offers the chance to explore a wide variety of strategy, trivia, reasoning or cooperative games, fostering the development of analytical thinking in a relaxed atmosphere.

It is the perfect opportunity to break the school routine and build strong bonds across different grade levels. By stimulating social interactions and the joy of play, this weekly gathering transforms the library into a true space for exchange and relaxation.
